IN THE PRESS > Police: Naked man breaks into home, asks to 'crash' there

16 Jul 2013

SEATTLE -- A naked man who broke into a University District house and asked to "crash" there early Tuesday will instead be crashing at the King County Jail, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the man came in the first-floor window of a house in the 5000 block of Eighth Avenue Northeast around 1 a.m., startling the residents inside.

The naked man reportedly asked for a woman who didn't live there and then asked if he could crash at the house. The residents told the man he could not, and he went right back out the window, according to police.

After an initial K9 track failed, an officer spotted a man wearing jeans and no shirt riding a bike in the area and tried to contact him. But, the man rode off before fleeing on foot, according to police.

Officers started a second K9 track and began searching yards in the 700 block of Northeast 53rd Street. The man was eventually found on the roof of a nearby house and taken into custody with the help of a Seattle Fire Department ladder truck.

According to police, the man was positively identified as the naked intruder by one of the residents.

He was taken to the hospital for evaluation, as drugs unsurprisingly may have been a factor in his alleged nude trip through a stranger's window. He will eventually be booked into King County Jail.
